Nissan Makes a Statement at the Geneva Motor Show

If you've been by the Gurley Leep Nissan showroom lately, you've noticed all of the powertrain and design changes Nissan has made throughout the lineup. From the emission free Nissan LEAF to the uniquely styled 2012 Juke, the automaker has made quite the statement about the future of the company. And that is to say: efficiency and styling can only get even better from here.

And, like many automakers, they've used the Geneva Motor Show to make this statement known. Colin Dodge, Nissan Executive VP says of the show, "It's by far the most important motor show for getting any messages you've got across over corporately or from a product perspective. It is the show of the year for Europe."1

This year, according to executives, the general branding message from automakers is, "Don't do more, do it better."2 As always, it's an extremely competitive market and companies are tackling it through design and efficiency. Don't worry, Nissan is more than ready for the challenge.

They've taken the stage in the Green Pavilion at this year's Geneva Motor Show, alongside 16 other hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles. While they've led the market in EV technology, they're already looking to fuel-cell and other innovative powertrains for the future.

Like we said though, that's not the only place where the competition is heating up. Nissan Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura reports, "Design is becoming very competitive. Every company is pushing design in front of brand. Brand is increasingly becoming brand expression and everyone is looking to establish their brand by design."3

Don't think for a second that Nissan didn't wow the crowd in Geneva with their new hatchback, the Invitation Concept, loaded with technology, features, and design elements. Combine that with class-leading fuel efficiency, and you have a vehicle that embodies all of Nissan's future goals.
